#38: Belief, relief, and release
Hello squad
You guessed it! It’s another batch of cartoons.
This week, Santa takes drastic measures, a flame makes some cuts, and a prisoner seeks some advice.
Hitting all the high notes,
Chris

You’ve got issues. I’ve got issues. And Santa, well Santa’s got issues too.
But, you know, everyone has a backup plan. A way to set things right. But maybe, just maybe, your backup plan is worse than your current plan.
I guess what I’m saying is: Don’t let Santa switch to crypto. Give your belief today.
A little artist’s note: When I started prepping this week’s cartoons, I realised I had a problem. I wanted to include another Christmas cartoon. I had another Christmas cartoon in mind. I knew how it would look and what the caption would be. The trouble was: I hadn’t drawn it. It was just an idea in a notepad.
Cue a few hours later, the above cartoon appeared, complete with Santa and elves.
It’s a simple enough drawing, and there’s a version of it in full colour that I’ve made, but I felt like colour wasn’t quite needed for this one.

Everyone’s on Ozempic.
I saw an article headline recently that hailed 2023 as the year of Ozempic, the ‘miracle’ weight loss drug, and it made me realise that this stuff was bigger than I expected and that, perhaps, everyone was using it.
Or, tl;dr, That is one very thin flame.
A little artist’s note: Sometimes, simple is best.
The idea for this one came when I happened to see the word Ozempic written, but I misread it as Olympic. Then it all just fell into place after that.
It’s basic, of course. But it really doesn’t need much more than that to be effective.
Caption: “Sandstone? Well I suppose a salad spoon would work for that.”
People learn so many things behind bars.
You know, things like restaurant etiquette, as in which spoon to use for what and all the other things that go with medium-to-high society. But, there are other uses for spoons too. Like escaping a prison cell, one scoop at a time.
And a salad spoon could be very good for that.
A little artist’s note: You know what’s hard to draw? Stripes.
Well, to be more precise, stripes on shirts when a hand is raised. I don’t know how Where’s Wally does it and I must have drawn and redrawn that sleeve 10 times, each with only minor levels of progress or success.
I do kind of like this one, though.
