Hello brave captains,
I’m back, I’m COVID-free, and I’m here with some cartoons.
This week we look an argument between hot dogs, a horse with a legitimate request, and a button who finds his own path.
Healin’ up,
Chris

Well, after a week of drawing no cartoons, I’m out of my COVID-induced bunker.
These cartoons are, well they’re the first thing I drew when I felt up to it. They’re far from perfect. But I’m sharing them as bonuses as they were a great way to ease back into making cartoons again. I’ve included two versions with two different captions, as I couldn’t decide which worked better. I blame COVID, obviously.
Also, hot dogs are inherently funny, obviously.
A little artist’s note: COVID, while not what it used to be, still hits pretty hard. And the one thing I had been told by everyone was that the best thing you can do is relax. So, reluctantly, that was exactly what I did. I slept. I found bad TV to watch, and just did whatever I needed to to relax my body.
But, once I found myself on the mend, I started playing with some ideas. I hadn’t drawn in 5 days, which was the longest break I’ve had since I started this adventure. And the first thing I drew was really just to blow out the cobwebs. Specifically, it was these very basic cobweb-blowing cartoons.
Thinking back, the last time I was in this situation, I also did something similar. Here was the cartoon I drew after my last drought back around this time in 2023.
Like I said. Sometimes you’ve just got to clear out the cobwebs.
Caption: “What have you got that has been test on animals?
It’s a fair question, if you ARE an animal.
Because, as a horse, would you want to buy some product that hadn’t been tested on other horses? What if something went wrong? You may never gallop again.
Sometimes it’s hard to be a horse.
A little artist’s note: And, you know what, horses are actually quite hard to draw. They’ve got all sorts of weird angles that make them somewhat strange, and they look even stranger when they’re waiting at a cosmetic counter.
And speaking of counters. This one had quite a few revisions before it landed here. For a start it was just a horse and a counter, but I didn’t think that really sold the idea of the horse looking for beauty products. Of course, finding that legitimacy meant I had to draw not one, but a whole lot of small boxes. And, you know, they’re EVERYWHERE.
Caption: “And after I fell off in the wash, I decided to start my solo career.”
In fairness, this is what I would do.
Buttons. They get everywhere. But what happens when they lose their people? Their fellow buttons. Well, this. A successful solo career.
And I nice little cartoon to finish off the week.
A little artist’s note: This is sooooo very simple, but I like it. Nothing to say and nothing to see here, just enjoy it.
