#53: A jacket, a thought
Hello pirates,
It’s time for some cartoons. Two cartoons, to be exact.
This week we have a conundrum that hits everyone at this time of year, and a reminder that perhaps we need to let some things go.
Keeping the peace,
Chris

What are you wearing?
It seems like at this time of the year, no matter your hemisphere, we are all faced with the eternal question: will we need a jacket? And if we do wear one, how long before we end up taking it off and carrying it around like an awkward and oversized handbag? Do we sweat it out, or shiver? Or will it be a combination of both? And then will there be a commentary team in your living room announcing your every move?
Where’s your jacket?
A little artist’s note: This one actually came together fairly quickly. I knew the idea and how I wanted it to work, but my big challenge was deciding where it would be set. In my initial sketches, I simply had the commentators in a box and you couldn’t see what they were commentating. But, like everything, it evolved as I realised it just wasn’t quite enough to get the message across. So, instead, I decided that the best way to tie it all together would be to have the commentators set up in the person’s living room, making them like the person’s inner-monologue.
I’m pretty sure this is exactly what mine looks like.

Do you hold a grudge?
And, you know, do you also assume that the other person holds that grudge too? That it will be the rivalry to end all rivalries. That no-one will be spared. NO-ONE. Only to realise later that the grudge is just you and the other person really didn’t care that much.
Maybe this is you?
A little artist’s note: A nice simple one to finish with. And, in truth, I almost didn’t make this one at all. But, I kept thinking about it and I realised that I just really liked the message. I’m pretty sure I have had both views. But, when I finally have a need for a gravestone, I definitely don’t want to be sporting the first message.
Visually, this is intentionally simple. It doesn’t need to be anything more, as long as you can see the messages on the graves, the rest sorts itself out.
