Hello drifters,
I’m on a much-needed vacation/holiday this week so I’ve dug out a few of my favourite rejects from my, well, rather extensive reject collection.
This week we see a dishwasher inappropriate for dishwashing, and get a better motivation for running.
Keeping pace,
Chris

Caption: “Look, he’s impressive, he’s just not viable as a dishwasher.”
You ever have a job that you’re just not right for?
I was a dishwasher once, and I was damn good at it. I was also 15 and, in truth, I wasn’t good at much else. So, uh, not much has changed, really.
What are you really good at?
A little artist’s note: In my cartooning journey, this one holds a rather special place. I mean, when I look at it I can see that it was drawn earlier on, as my style has changed a little since then. But I always really liked how this one worked with perspective, with the juggler in the front and everyone else smaller in the background. I know, I know, I do this more regularly now, but I always felt like this was the first time when I really got it right.
I was once told that my drawing is a very Melbourne (Australia) style, and these facial features are perhaps my most prominent example of this.

What are you running for?
Is it a personal best? Is it the respect of your peers? Or, is it because there is a small mechanical rabbit that you just have to chase because of your insatiable instincts?
My money is on the rabbit.
A little artist’s note: Have you seen that greyhound? Well, have you? He’s adorable.
And those runners, well, okay, if there was ever a tell as to my older cartoons, it would be the heads. I think I thought big heads would be my thing, but just look at the size of them. They’re so, just, disproportionate. And the necks! What’s going on there? It was a phase, I guess.
But, you know, despite all that, I just like the gag.
