#86: Sideways
Hello judges,
I’m back from vacation and getting my cartoon skates firmly back on my not-tanned-but-sore feet.
This week we see an interesting love story, and we marvel at modern technology for the Christmas season.
Still out on the jury,
Chris

Caption: “I couldn’t move on, so I moved sideways.”
Sometimes it’s hard to move on.
Because, all you see is other people like your ex. And so, you have to compromise. Maybe only change a few things. Just enough to make it different.
Like moving sideways.
A little artist’s note: This wasn’t my first preference for this week but, sadly, the cartoon I had originally planned for got caught up in a bit of a political bunfight and I had to sub this one in at the last minute.
But, that’s okay, because this one is silly and sweet and is the perfect antedote to any political snafu. Also, how good is the word snafu?
Okay, I’ll stop now.
Caption: “These cancel up to eight maids-a-milking.”
‘tis the season to be jolly. But sometimes things can get a little too jolly.
Like, say, no matter where you go, you hear the same Christmas music. Over and over again. But, what if there were noise-cancelling headphones that could selectively block this out. Well, up to a certain point.
I think I’ll need these by the 25th.
A little artist’s note: In truth. I love Christmas carols, Christmas music, and anything that even vaguely resembles Christmas. I’ll watch all the films, I’ll buy all the decorations, and I’ll talk about it to anyone who will listen. And I mean anyone.
However, I know that isn’t a feeling everyone has. And maybe, well maybe they would just prefer to have the sound of white noise in their ears. And maybe these headphones are their answer.
Visually, this one is as simple as it gets but, in truth, it doesn’t really need much more. Just someone selling headphones and someone else trying them out. As long as the joke holds up, the rest can go by the wayside.
